Description
Large white cap with brownish scales and green-tinged gills in maturity. Often mistaken for edible parasol mushrooms.
Habitat
Lawns, parks, grassy areas after rain.
Where Found in Thailand
Throughout Thailand — the most commonly eaten poisonous mushroom in the country.
Symptoms
- Severe vomiting (1–3h)
- Bloody diarrhea
- Stomach cramps
- Dehydration
First Aid — DO
- Save a sample of the mushroom for identification
- Drink fluids
- Go to hospital for rehydration
DO NOT
- NEVER eat wild mushrooms without expert identification
- DO NOT rely on 'looks like' comparisons
When to seek help
Hospital if vomiting is persistent, or for children and elderly — dehydration is the main risk.
