- Intense throbbing pain
- Swelling
- Nausea
- Rarely systemic symptoms
First Aid — DO
- Hot water immersion (45°C, 30–90 min)
- Remove spine fragments
- Clean wound
DO NOT
- DO NOT touch even when 'dead'
