Description
Stocky, triangular-headed viper, brown with darker geometric patterns. Excellent camouflage in leaves.
Habitat
Leaf litter, rubber & palm plantations, forest edges.
Where Found in Thailand
Southern and eastern Thailand. Major cause of snakebite hospitalizations.
Symptoms
- Intense pain
- Severe swelling
- Blistering
- Bleeding from gums
- Tissue necrosis
First Aid — DO
- Immobilize limb
- Remove rings/watches
- Photograph snake from safe distance for ID
- Hospital immediately
DO NOT
- DO NOT cut, suck, ice, or tourniquet
- DO NOT walk if leg bitten
