Description
Shrub with narrow leaves and pink, white or red flowers. Every part contains cardiac glycosides — even smoke from burning it is toxic.
Habitat
Gardens, roadsides, resort landscaping.
Where Found in Thailand
Planted throughout Thailand as an ornamental shrub.
Symptoms
- Nausea & vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Irregular or slow heartbeat
- Dizziness
- Cardiac arrest
First Aid — DO
- DO NOT induce vomiting
- Keep the person calm and still
- Bring a sample of the plant
- Hospital immediately
DO NOT
- DO NOT burn oleander cuttings
- DO NOT use branches as skewers or straws
